Help Anton and Jacqueline through an unexpected fight with stage 4 cancer
Just three weeks ago, our lives changed completely. I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, a shocking discovery that came out of nowhere. Until then, I had no health issues and lived an active, normal life.
Before this diagnosis, I worked as an IT professional with Te Whatu Ora / Health New Zealand, leading a dedicated team of business analysts. Unfortunately, only weeks before my diagnosis, I lost my job due to a restructure. The timing has been incredibly hard — losing both my health and income almost at once.
My wife and I moved to New Zealand in 2020, just before the COVID lockdowns. We built our lives here together, far away from family and support networks. Now, facing this diagnosis, we are navigating it largely on our own — emotionally and financially.
At this stage, we don’t know how long I have, or what lies ahead. I am focusing on spending whatever time I have left with my partner, staying positive, and managing treatment and daily living costs as best we can. But with no income and no life insurance, even covering the basics — rent, food, and utility costs — is becoming extremely difficult.
We are asking, with humility, for any support you might be able to give. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help us focus on what truly matters — being together and making the most of each day.
With gratitude,
Anton & Jacqueline
