Help us raise funds to save my mum's puppy 'Maggie Jackson'

  • Maggie has had her operation

Hi, Maggie had her operation in Rangiora on Tuesday. It was not as straightforward as we hoped it would be and there were some complications. The 'shunt' that is affecting her organs is only the size of a piece of cotton thread and the Vet surgeon had difficulties with the procedure. We will know more in time. Meanwhile we have managed to get Maggie home, despite being delayed by scrub fires and car accidents on State Highway One and a visit to the Lincoln Vet for medication support. She has had lots of 'loves'. If her tiny body can survive the first 72 hours then that will be a milestone. Thanks for your support.

  • Maggie going in for life saving surgery today

We were hoping we could delay the surgery until the new year but the reality is that the ammonia levels in her brain due to her condition meant we couldn't wait any longer. I kid you not the surgery is not cheap and as well as putting our own money toward the surgery we are helping out my mum with some fundraising through this page. We are extremely grateful for your donations. The first big hurdle will be to get through the surgery and then through the night. We are hopeful that we will get the best outcome so Maggie can return to keeping mum company and getting up to a bit of mischief. She has such an awesome personality and in just a short time has become a special part of our extended family.

Big day for Maggie today. She has now reached 1.5kg. Ideal weight for life saving surgery is 2kg but that could be a struggle. We are still fundraising on behalf of my mum and thank you all for your support.

We put up the Xmas tree during the weekend. Too early for some I know but we love Xmas and as it turns out so does Maggie. She will get to spend her first Xmas with her new family and we know that she is going to love it. Mum has got her a new dog bowl, but please keep it quiet as it's supposed to be a secret!

Thank you so much to those people who have so kindly donated. The exciting news is that Maggie has had her scan and is eligible for surgery. We have a lot of fundraising to do on my mum's behalf over the next couple of months but we are determined to give Maggie the opportunity and a full and exciting life
