Help Us Rebuild the Heart of Our School: A New Playground for Miramar Central!

$850 of $10,000 goal
Given by 15 generous donors in around 7 months

Miramar Central needs a new playground! We’re fundraising, but we need your help to build a safe, fun space for our tamariki.

Miramar, Wellington

Miramar Central School, nestled in the heart of Motu Kairangi, is a vibrant, inclusive space where tamariki are empowered through rich cultural experiences, arts, music, and hands-on learning. Our grounds are a community treasure, with bike and BMX tracks enjoyed daily by students and families alike. In early 2025, we proudly built a new swing set—thanks to generous grants and fundraising—which is now a favourite among children.

But our playground is in urgent need of renewal. Most of the original structure has been removed for safety reasons, leaving only two aging slides and a few raised platforms. Even our beloved condor spacenet is nearing the end of its life, with fraying ropes held together by duct tape.

We dream of building a new playground and replacing the condor at the same time, creating a safe, imaginative space where children can play, connect, and grow. Our school fundraising group has worked tirelessly, but without additional support, this project could take decades to complete.

We’re reaching out to our community and beyond to help make this vision a reality. Every contribution brings us closer to giving our tamariki—and the wider Miramar community—a playground that reflects the joy, diversity, and spirit of Miramar Central School. Let’s build something extraordinary, together.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
