Help Save Wadeson Island – Keep the Restoration Going

A grassroots team of volunteers in Hokitika, New Zealand needs your help to protect a blossoming wildlife haven on Wadeson Island – right now. We’re racing against time to keep this once-forgotten island thriving with native plants and wildlife, and we can’t do it empty-handed.

We’re building a charitable trust to carry this work into the future—but the island needs today. This fundraiser will equip our crew with the tools and materials to keep going while the paperwork catches up: spades, herbicide, a brush cutter, plant guards, and other essentials to make an immediate difference on Wadeson Island. We have the heart and hard work – with your help, we’ll have the gear to match.

Now the urgency is real: Without immediate action, invasive weeds like gorse and blackberry will quickly reclaim the island, choking out the young native trees we planted. Every month that passes without proper equipment is a step backward – new seedlings risk dying, and precious habitat for wildlife could degrade.
