Kia Ora,

My name is Jaymee Walker, on the 24th June 2024 myself and my whanau’s world had been turned upside down after a devastating house fire.

Leaving me and my partner with nothing and losing all of our possessions. We do not have house or contents insurance.

We have been through so much, we lost our dad in 2016 and he was our rock. My younger brother who was affected by my dads passing the most, is now mentally unwell and I’ve taken on the responsibility of looking after him when my mums not around.

On the day of the fire my brother he was left unsupervised as me and my partner had to take care of some business and got a text from my mum saying she was coming back home. We didn’t think anything like this would end up happen but sadly it did.

Me and my partner will do whatever to help with absolutely no expectations or favours to be returned, we share so much aroha and are all full of life despite the circumstances.

All though we have lost all our possessions, against all of the odds we have kept strong and kept faith that things will get better.

We are grateful no one was hurt in this tragic accident, but we are now having to rebuild our life.

And all though materialistic things can be replaced it’s the small things that will be missed.
