Supporting baby Liam and his family as they navigate the long journey of a life-saving liver transplant through Starship Hospital 🤍
Lower Hutt, Wellington
Our beautiful boy Liam is just 1 year old and already the strongest little fighter we know.
Liam has a rare genetic condition called Alagille syndrome, which affects the liver, heart, and other parts of the body. In Liam’s case, it has caused severe liver complications, and he has now been approved for a liver transplant. He also has butterfly vertebrae in his spine from T7–T9, another challenge linked to his condition.
Liam was our final embryo from our second round of IVF — our last hope after a long and emotional journey to have him.
We are now on the transplant waitlist, living day by day as we wait for the call that could change everything. Over the past year, life has become a whirlwind of hospital stays, specialist appointments, and learning how to navigate this journey as a family.
After Liam’s transplant, Danielle will need to stay with him at Starship Hospital for around 3 months while he recovers and is closely monitored. During this time, Dad will continue working and travel up on weekends to be with them while the family balances life between home, work, and hospital.
Watching your baby go through so much is something no parent can prepare for, but Liam continues to show incredible strength every single day.
If you’re able to support Liam or share this page, it would mean the world to our family. Thank you for standing beside us and helping Liam get the best chance at a healthy future.
With love,
Danielle & family 🤍
I am friends with Danielle and a fellow IVF mum
Funds will help with loss of income, travel to and from Starship Hospital, accommodation and daily living costs while our family is split between hospital, work, and home during Liam’s liver transplant journey.
