Help Us Support Markus and His Dad, Anthony

$2,640 donated
Given by 33 generous donors in one year

Helping a young boy with osteosarcoma enjoy all things in life, while learning to walk again.

Auckland

Markus is 12 yrs old, has been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) which means he is in and out of hospital for chemo and has just had surgery to remove the cancer from his leg which is called rotationplasty, this is where the ankle becomes the new knee joint and the bones from mid thy to mid shin are completely removed. This will require a lot of physio to get him to learn how to walk again.

Markus lives in Auckland with his Dad, Anthony who is raising him as a solo Dad. Which has been very difficult for them with being unable to work so that he is there to support Markus with anything he may need and the constant hospital appts. They could do with some help to take some of the financial stress off their backs and allow them to enjoy their time together.

Markus was supposed to start his first year of high school this year but at this stage it looks like he won’t be attending school until around August. After he has his next 6 months of Chemo and physio learning to walk again.

Markus is a happy and fun-loving boy who loves to spend time on devices but also loves to be active and run around and be able to go out and do things rather than being stuck at home. Financial help will ensure he can have some freedom to go out and take his mind off things.

There will be many more Drs visits, physio and chemo appts for most of this year. So please help share the love so a young boy can still enjoy a quality of life that all children deserve.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
