Help us support the Maccanico Family to take away any financial stress and to help with what is to come next for them.

Auckland

The recent tragic events with the Mount Maunganui landslides have taken Sharon, a beautiful, kind and talented soul, leaving behind her parents Carmine and Natalia who are heartbroken beyond belief.

Sharon was the apple of her parent’s eye and having her taken so suddenly from them during these events has caused unimaginable pain and grief that no parent should have to endure.

Carmine and Natalia are also now facing the financial burden due to being a one income, self employed family while trying to navigate their grief.

While nothing is ever going to make this right, we want to be able to provide practical support for them, so that they can take the time to grieve without the added pressure of worrying about finances.

We have created this page so that the funds raised can be used to assist in providing immediate and ongoing support for Carmine and Natalia who will not be in a position to work for a period of time.

If you are able to donate, please do so. No donation is too small, and know that all donations are gratefully received and will help to make a practical difference to Carmine and Natalia as they work through their grief. It is unknown if they will be receiving support from ACC, however if they do a Page Update will be posted.

Please also share this page if you are able to and please keep Carmine and Natalia in your prayers and remember the beautiful soul of Sharon.

Ashlee Nind's involvement (page creator)

We have been close friends of the Maccanico family (we are their family in New Zealand) for the past 7 plus years.

We have been extremely lucky to have them in our lives and to watch Sharon grow into the beautiful and loving teen that she was.

Use of funds

These funds will be used to assist with associated funeral costs, and used for providing ongoing daily support and related costs during this heart wrenchingly difficult time

Sharon has been identified  30 January 2026

As you may have seen, Sharon's remains have now been identitifed after an agonising wait.

I wanted to first say THANK YOU! To everyone who has donated and shared this page. The support has genuinely been overwhelming and so heart-warming. The funds that have been raised so far are going to be much needed for what comes next for the family. Thanks to you all, they can take the time they need to move through their grief, without the added pressure of worrying about finances.

Now that Sharon has been identified, the first step has been completed in what is going to be a very long road for both Carmine and Natalia, but can hopefully bring some closure to them over time and they can start trying to heal.

Rest in peace beautiful girl. You will be so missed by so many. 💜

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
