Help us to provide professional development training in post-cult and spiritual abuse recovery for Aotearoa's mental health therapists!
Nationwide
Here at the Olive Leaf Network, we have been contacted by over 300 former members of high-demand groups, from over 20 different religious or spiritual communities in New Zealand, in the last year alone!
All of these people have been left feeling vulnerable, traumatised or harmed due to their involvement in cult-like or high-demand religious groups. Many of them are struggling with forms of C-PTSD or PTSD, of identity and spirituality confusion, and of significant mental and physical health challenges.
The ONE thing that these former members ask us for again and again, is "can you recommend a therapist or someone who can help me, who understands something about what it's like to leave a high-control group?..."
That is why we are so pleased to be bringing international expert in cultic and spiritual abuse recovery, Dr. Gillie Jenkinson, to New Zealand in October 2024. Dr. Jenkinson is a highly experienced psychotherapist and supervisor, and the author/creator of acclaimed book and client support model, "Walking Free from the Trauma of Coercive, Cultic and Spiritual Abuse" (2023).
We are providing two professional development events with Dr. Jenkinson, specifically for mental health therapists and other care providers including social workers, pastoral caregivers and support workers, to better equip them in providing care for former high-demand group clients.
It is expensive to bring an international expert to NZ - can you help us to make this training happen? Ngā mihi nui!
The Olive Leaf Network provides aid and advocacy for former members of high-demand religious groups, and supports leavers in rebuilding their lives. We also provide education about the impacts of high-demand groups, and resources for supporting leavers.
All donations will be used to enable our two training events with Dr. Gillie Jenkinson. Both events are providing expert input & professional development for mental health therapists and other caregivers, who support former members of high-demand groups.
