Fundraising for a replacement school van, for our specialist school students.
Southland
Our beloved van has come to the end of its life, and deserves to go to the 'farm for old vans'. We need some help to replace it with a new one that meets the needs of our students, and will allow them to continue to access their community and learning opportunities. http://rurued.school.nz/RuRuVan.mp4
Our students use our vans to access Special Olympics, Riding for the Disabled, Whole-School functions and assemblies, Pasifika and other cultural celebrations, STAR courses, and real-world experiences that help them learn to be independent.
We hope to meet our goal by the end of term three, so we can have the van purchased and ready for our spring outings and camps.
Ruru Specialist School teaches students with identified high and very high educational needs who receive Ongoing Resourcing (ORS), and a number of non-funded students with moderate needs. We have a well-resourced base-school, five satellite classes, a vocational programme that specialises in preparation for life, and a flat to develop the skills needed for independent living.
All of our donations this year - from friends, family members and any other generous supporters - will go into our Van Fund.
