Help us rebuild two nursing staff houses and one patient family house for the critical healthcare of Vanuatu people.
Otago
Cyclone trauma is real!
Climate change has been the forefront of our livelihoods. It is an unforgiving cold and hard reality as cyclones after cyclones, disaster after disaster, the nursing staff of the 60-year-old derelict Boyd Memorial Clinic resort to using old buckets to collect rainwater to prevent their houses from flooding. The 60-year-old Boyd Memorial Clinic needs a major renovation and is a critical infrastructure to serving the Southern people of Malekula, the second largest island in Vanuatu of over 35,000 people. We, the small island nations, are bearing the brunt of these catastrophes and we are physically and emotionally exhausted from it. We have had very little time to rebuild our livelihoods with little resources that exist. After two consecutive category 4 cyclones with a 6.5 magnitude earthquake, everyone is feeling on the edge!
But for now, it is the nursing staff who will need reassurance, comfort and safety through sustainable housing. The delivery of healthcare is critical, but we will need to house the health staff in proper housing to enable them to deliver basic healthcare to those who are already deprived of basic health care and medicines. We need your help to help us rebuild our houses. Will you give a little to help us rebuild our livelihoods please?
I am a current committee member of the Boyd Memorial Clinic Health Commitee in South West Bay, Malekula in Vanuatu.
The money will be spent on sourcing the building materials (including roofing, plumbing and electrical costs), transportation costs, some of the furnishings and paying the construction workers.

Halo everyone
I would like to say a massive tank yu tumas (Bislama word for many thanks) and extend our appreciation and gratitude to your generosity through this givealittle page. Every little bit counts and be reassured your donations will go towards a great cause of the rebuilding of the staff clinic houses.
Five days after the 'evil twin cyclones' struck Vanuatu, 2 of our South West Bay coastal villages are completely devastated with broken houses, homes, trees, and the biggest parts-the complete coastal facelifts and major changes to our marine ecosystems. Our telecommunications are still down. The urgent request now is for food as per the update from the Provincial authorities. We are reassured with no fatalities as reported.
We will need to rebuild the two staff houses for the clinic in the Bay. It will be a tough rebuild but with time, we can and we will.
Again, on behalf of the South West Bay Health Committee (Boyd Memorial Clinic), we are grateful for your donations and generosity. Every little bit counts.
Tank yu tumas.
Leina Isno (on behalf of the Committee)
