To help ease some of that burden & allow Verron to spend more meaningful time with Melissa & Grayson during this incredibly precious time.
Auckland
Melissa is facing incurable metastatic breast cancer that has spread throughout her bones.
At the same time, her 10-year-old son Grayson is living with an incurable, progressive kidney disease, alongside cerebral palsy, autism and complex medical needs. He is non-verbal, requires constant care, and faces frequent hospital stays due to complications with his condition and the medications he relies on.
This family is facing more than most could ever imagine — a whānau under immense and ongoing pressure.
Verron is doing everything he can to hold his family together.
He is currently working seven days a week, waking at 4am each morning to get enough hours in before returning home to care for Melissa and Grayson. Sleep is limited, the emotional toll is heavy, and the physical demands are constant — but he continues to show up for his family every single day.
Behind the scenes, their lives are filled with hospital visits, treatments, and the reality of living with serious, life-limiting conditions.
Verron and Melissa are incredibly humble people and would never ask for help themselves — which is why we are asking on their behalf.
No family should have to face this alone.
Every donation, no matter the size, and every share of this page helps carry some of the weight this family is currently bearing.
If you are able to help, thank you. If you can share their story, it means just as much.
Together, we can surround this whānau with the support, care, and aroha they need during this time.
Our family is reaching out for help to support my half-brother Verron, his partner Melissa, and their beautiful son Grayson.
• Everyday living expenses while income is reduced
• Additional care and support for Grayson
• Household costs to reduce the pressure on Verron
• Helping the family move into a home of their own
# ❤️ Together, we achieved something extraordinary ❤️ 14 June 2026
When we created this Givealittle page, we hoped to ease some of the financial pressure on Verron, Melissa, and Grayson and give them something truly precious – more time together.
Today, we are overwhelmed to share that we not only reached our goal of **$50,000**, but surpassed it, raising an incredible **$50,632.15**.
Verron, Melissa, and Grayson are deeply grateful to every person who donated, shared a post, sent a message of encouragement, or simply kept them in their thoughts and prayers.
What started as a fundraiser became a beautiful reminder that kindness still exists in abundance. Friends, family, businesses, community groups, media, and complete strangers from across New Zealand came together to support a family they had never met.
A special thank you to **Wayne Graham** from **The Daily Encourager** for beautifully telling our story. If you haven't had the chance to read it, you can find it here:
Thank you also to the Givealittle team for providing a platform that allows communities to rally around families when they need it most.
The final total is more than a number. It represents thousands of acts of generosity, compassion, and hope.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping give this family more time together and for reminding us that even in the hardest moments, people will always choose kindness.
**$50,632.15 isn't just a total – it's a community choosing love.** ❤️
