Help Vicky in Uganda pay her children’s school fees

I would really appreciate it if you could help a special friend of mine, Vicky.

My family and I used to live in Uganda, East Africa. I ran a small homeschool centre, where we had just one teacher, a lovely lady called Vicky. I’ve kept in touch with her, and as Ugandan wages are not high, my husband and I have been helping to support her family over the years. We also donated a piece of land we bought there, and send money on a regular basis so she can have a simple house built on it, to avoid paying rent.

However I was shocked to learn recently that she’s struggling to pay her children’s school fees. Education in Uganda is not free, and is quite expensive. She is a single mother, earning approximately NZ$400 per month, and has been living on one meal a day for a whole year – a free one she gets at the school where she works – in an attempt to pay the school fees. I know she has cried many tears, feeling she is letting her children down.

She built up the courage to ask if I can help find assistance for the school fees. She has two children in school; the cost is around NZ$2,000 per child per year.

Vicky is one of the most wonderful people I have had the honour of meeting, and if I can raise enough money for even one child for this yearn(by 14th February), that will be an enormous help.
