As many of you know my lovely daughter Nicola flew to New York to help and support Cindy and her daughter Emma who was born with a severe brain disorder almost 8yrs ago. Since finding out about Emma's condition their family have looked outside of our outdated system to find the right help for Emma. They are currently working with a functional neurologist Dr Robert Melillo who is based in New York Long Island.

Emma has 2 older sisters who are her biggest cheerleaders and this family of 5 is one amazing team for Emma. Since working with Dr Melillo, Emma has made some amazing progress. At the age of 2.5yrs old Emma couldn't even sit up nor crawl, walk, talk nothing. Her brain wasn't aware that her body existed and her outcome wasn't very hopeful. Since finding the right help, Cindy, Emma's mum has been retraining her brain for the past 5.5yrs. Cindy has given up work to be Emma's full-time Occupational Therapist, doing therapy for at least 4hrs a day Monday to Friday.

Emma has made so many positive changes over the years, she's now crawling independently Emma is currently toilet training (anything Dr's said she'd never be able to do due on the lack of Interception). Emma can now use her hands with intention and purpose, before she couldn't control her arm movements with zero fine motor skills. Emma has a few words now at almost 8yrs old. Emma is showing signs she wants to walk soon and this is why the family are going to New York for 3 week intensive program with Dr Melillo.
