Help Wellington Brass Band represent New Zealand at the World Music Contest!
Wellington
This year, Wellington Brass Band has been invited to compete at the World Music Contest in Kerkrade in the Netherlands. We will be up against the best brass bands in the world, showing them how we do it in New Zealand. We are immensely excited to attend!
This invitation is the result of years of dedication from our musicians. After competing for years at the top of New Zealand banding, competing internationally will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for our band. Travelling to Kerkrade to compete in this competition is a part of New Zealand's banding heritage. The National Band of New Zealand first attended and won the contest in 1962 and has attended six times since. Dozens of bandspeople around the country have enjoyed the privilege of attending and competing at the WMC. For Wellington Brass, this tour is a chance not only to perform on the world stage, but also to represent Wellington, New Zealand, and the New Zealand brass band community.
Whilst the band is filled with exceptional musicians, this tour is self funded. As a community band, we rely on the support of people who believe in what we do. Taking a band of this size overseas requires significant fundraising to help cover flights, accommodation, and other essential costs. Every donation brings us one step closer to making this extraordinary opportunity a reality.
Thank you for being part of our journey.
WBB has been the A Grade Champion brass band in 11 out of the last 12 contests. The band is made up of exceptionally talented and dedicated hobbyists who are committed to representing brass music in New Zealand to the highest level.
Funds raised will contribute to the cost of taking the full band overseas. This includes flights, accommodation, and other essential costs.
