Fundraising for Winnie, our heading pup, to get surgery for osteochondrosis so she can walk and live pain-free.
Hawke's Bay
Winnie is our gorgeous heading pup, and not long after bringing her home, we noticed she had a limp. At first, we thought it might be something minor, but when it didn’t improve, we took her to the vet to get it checked.
Initially, we were reassured it wasn’t anything serious. But as time went on, her limp continued, and it became clear something wasn’t right. After further assessments, we were given the real diagnosis — Winnie has osteochondrosis in her shoulder.
Osteochondrosis is a rare genetic condition in heading dogs where the cartilage in the joint doesn’t form properly. This causes pain, inflammation, and problems with movement. In Winnie’s case, it affects how she walks and plays. She tires more easily, struggles with normal movement, and without treatment, it can lead to long-term joint damage and chronic pain.
The recommended treatment is surgery to remove the damaged cartilage and help restore proper joint function. This gives her the best chance at living a normal, active, pain-free life, especially with her being a working dog, we want to give her the best life we possibly can.
Winnie is our beloved baby, she has brought joy to everyone who meets her, and we just want to give her the best shot at life we possibly can. We understand that state of the world is expensive to live in right now, so even sharing this would mean the world to us.

The money will be spent on Winnie’s scans and surgery. If the target goal isn’t met, we will still use the money to go towards scans and surgery.
