Zac Vickers, aged 33, suffered a stroke on June 21st caused by a blood clot on his brain.
Tauranga, Bay Of Plenty
At 4.30am on Friday the 21st, Zac had a stroke caused by a large clot on his brain. Life saving medicine was administered at Tauranga Hospital at 6am and then he was transferred to Auckland Hospital for a clot removal. Further scans in Auckland showed the TPA medicine had dissolved the clot.
He was transferred back to Tauranga hospital to start his recovery on the 23rd. He will need speech and balance therapy there as part of his recovery.
If you wish to make a direct (and therefore instant) donation, please contact myself or Leisha for transfer information
Funds will used for food, rent and bills to support Zac, his wife, and two children while he recovers as it will be a while before he's back to operating machinery.
Zac is now home! 26 July 2023
Physically he's doing really well, but cognitive and comprehending what he's being told is a struggle.
He is waiting on some results and will have more tests in about 2 weeks.
He will also have a review 12th September for possible return to some kind of work at FH.
Class 2 & 5 now banned for 5 years, but class 1 possible in a month pending review.
The Vickers family are so thankful to everyone who has donated and sent them well wishes during these times. They feel and appreciate all your love and support ❤️
