Alan needs to use a CPAP Machine every night to keep his job.
Waikato
Alan has been a bus driver for the past 6 years. As a school bus driver there is no work available during each school holidays throughout the year. This limits the annual income and Alan has to rely on WINZ during school holiday periods. At the age of 60 Alan is no longer a spring chicken and when he spoke to his doctor about severe tiredness and fatigue, he was diagnosed with Sleep Apnoea and was required to use a CPAP machine in order to continue to hold a Passenger endorsement on his licence and continue in his job as a bus driver. Due to long waiting lists for assessment at the DHB, Alan got an assessment from a private clinic and was provided a CPAP machine by the private clinic. Alan was off work and had to survive on a WINZ benefit for more than 4 months during this process. This has left Alan significantly in debt for living costs and still with a debt owing to the private clinic of $2,225.00 for the cost of the CPAP machine, Masks and Clinical Support. Alan is looking for your help to meet this debt.
