Please help Arlo manage his Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Global Development Delay.
Bay of Plenty
As some of you may know earlier this year Arlo was diagnosed with Global Development Delay and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Amy and Don haven't spoken much about it as they have needed time to process and come to terms with the diagnosis, always thinking of what this will mean for Arlo and his brothers Dustin and River. As parents we want our children’s lives to be as easy and enjoyable as possible however for Arlo that journey will be a little harder and scarier but they will make sure he always feels loved unconditionally.
Amy and Don are trying to do everything they can to help Arlo's chances of success in life. They do not believe he needs "fixing" or changing! They would just like to find his strengths and encourage them and help him catch up and learn skills, including the things we take for granted such as speaking, communicating, toilet training and going to mainstream school.
They have researched and spoken to people who have had this success through specialised therapy. Unfortunately this therapy is not Government funded in NZ and the cost involved is at least $30,000 a year. The next two years are extremely important as early intervention is key in helping Arlo progress.
They are eternally grateful for anything you can contribute, the well wishes, prayers and words of support. Arlo is a beautiful soul and we can't wait for him to shine even brighter. Thank you for your part in helping us make this happen :)
I'm involved because Amy is my best friend and I want to help and know others will to when they see the struggle this beautiful family is going through.
Funds raised will be used for Arlo's specialised treatment which costs a minimum of $2500 per month
