Wellington College rower
Wellington
My name is Elliot Willis, and I am a year 11 student at Wellington College.
I was introduced to rowing only a year ago and my passion has grown since my first training. After my first Maadi (New Zealand secondary school championship) I knew this was a sport I can represent my country in, and it's been a dream ever since.
After putting my heart and soul into training, I've been rewarded novice of the year, a reward that requires sheer dedication towards the sport and the attitude and strength that stands out from the rest.
In my novice season, I've competed in countless races and events in which I've placed within top three for most of them. Some include the U18 novice coxless four (1st) U15 Octuple (2nd) and U15 eight (1st). I hope that these results will countinue with the help of funds.
I have also been chosen to participate in the central RPC development camps, these rowers are handpicked by their results and commitment towards their school and it's been an honour to be picked by them. These camps will help me greatly of achieving my dream of representing New Zealand on an Olympic level.
The fees in order to countinue rowing is $3500 which includes food, accommodation, regattas and uniform.
I am involved because I am the proud father of Elliot. After many many training sessions on the water and in the gym over the year Elliot's rowing journey has only just begun and is already reaching elite levels. Passion, dedication, commitment and an uncompromising attitude towards the sport of rowing has enabled Elliot to develop into a mature young man. All we need now is a little financial support to help him achieve his dream and wear the silver fern.
The funds that you guys would put in would allow me to pay off the crazy amount of fees that rowing requires and make me and my family's life a whole lot easier.
