Help support Fiona during her battle with cancer!

  • Update on Fiona's battle...

      6 March 2017

So, it's been a while since we did an update on this page. Fiona enjoyed her Christmas and New Years with baby Morgan while feeling pretty good after her bowel removable operation.

Unfortunately the Doctors have decided that the spots on the lungs are inoperable, but Fiona's not ready to give up that easily! She's decided to smash it with aggressive chemo to prove them wrong! She's focusing on diet and supplements to support her body to fight, and is also going to look at options for getting treatment/surgery done elsewhere (if they won't do anything here).

Fiona continues to appreciate all the support, in whichever form that is, from everyone.

Thinking about you Fiona. I have no doubt you are putting up a good fight.

  • Operation time!

      10 November 2016

Fiona is having the operation to remove her bowel on Monday (14-Nov), facing about 5-6 hours on the op table. Auntie Gene (Fiona's Mum) and baby Morgan will be staying in Christchurch while Fiona's in hospital (5-7 days). Fiona would like that say that she continues to appreciate all the support and messages people send. Fingers and toes, and all other crossable bits, crossed for the best possible outcome for my cuzzy!!

"I finished chemo-radiation treatment on Monday, very glad to have that over with and to be back in Ashburton full time again. We were lucky to be able to stay in Christchurch during the week but it's still very tiring travelling home every weekend. I have a few side effects including extra tiredness and radiation burns with loss of skin to the bum/groin region, bit sore but worth it in the end and I don't have the pain I did so am very confident it's done the job to shrink the tumor very well.

Had a CT scan on Tuesday to see what the chemo has done to the lungs (the chemo tablets were to work in unison with the radiation to shrink the tumor, they did not know what effect it would have on the lung spots as a consequence). I have an appointment with the surgeon 20th of this month and I'm guessing that if I don't hear from the oncologist before then that I won't need anymore Chemo - no news is good news ??

There was a second article in stuff and The Press a couple of weeks ago and we will also be in Woman's Day in a couple of weeks. Hopefully we manage to make some changes in the way that people are granted early detection screening to stop this from happening to anyone else, which will be a positive to the situation for me.

Morgan is doing amazing, 3 months old and 12 pound 7. keeping his Grandma and Mum very busy and tired but also very happy and distracted ??"

After 25 days of hard work, determination, putting on great weight, and growing big and strong, Morgan came out of hospital on Sunday!!! They're spending a few nights in Ranui house before heading back home to Ashburton... all of this at what should be 36wks in the womb! What a little trooper! Fiona is stoked and very proud of him! Time now for her to relax before treatment begins.

Unfortunately Fiona was given some bad news yesterday. The spots on her lungs are cancer - definitely two spots on one, and one spot on the other. She has a meeting with the Oncologist on Tuesday, and within the next two weeks will start chemo and radiation. After six weeks of treatment they will check it all again and see what can be done.

On a brighter note, Morgan is doing great! He's now above his birthday weight (after only two weeks) - he put on 150gms in four days!! His weight at birth was 2.32kg (5.2pnd), and he's now 2.43kg (5.35pnd)... GO MORGAN!!

Fiona needs our support now more than ever... please SHARE her page to all your friends and family... and ask them to share it too!!!

  • Update from Facebook - 20th June 2016

      30 June 2016

    Update on Fiona and Morgan...

Morgan is going great guns!! He was off oxygen less than 24 hrs after being born. According to his Mummy, you'd never even know he was prem - other than him being teeny weeny!

Fiona was having her second lot of blood yesterday, due to being so low in iron. She said she feels like a pin cushion!

Fiona asked me to let you all know how grateful she is for your support... she's absolutely blown away by people's generosity!

If you would like to show your support for Fiona and Morgan, please make a donation. Thanks!!

Little Morgan was delivered today weighing five pound - not too shabby considering only 32.5wks in the womb! Mum and bubs are doing well.

Fiona is now focusing on bonding with Morgan before the next phase of her journey begins.

If you haven't done so already, please read Fiona's page... and if you have any spare $$ please donate. Or please SHARE her page to your friends! The further we can get this page, the more support we can show Fiona!

Thank you to all those who have supported her so far!
