Auckland
For those who don't know my story. my name is Hannah, mother of a beautiful 10 month-old baby girl from Auckland. She is in my full-time care so I cannot return to the workforce until I find affordable childcare.
It's taken me a long time to decide whether or not I should reach out and do this. I know I'm not alone when it comes to dealing with money troubles and many of you may not even agree with this but I have no other support. I'm reluctant about sharing certain personal information but for you to understand my current dilemma, I have no choice but to share it with you.
I'm currently receiving $300 p/w from Work and Income (for both my daughter and myself) which covers rent, internet and phone bill, groceries, baby essentials, car and petrol. We are left with next-to-nothing until next pay day and until I can work again after her 1st birthday, I cannot afford childcare costs.
Our car was taken into a mechanic (trusted family friend) last month for a clutch disc replacement. This was the only work that was asked to be done but, more of the car was dealt to. The now-fixed car has been sitting at the garage with an invoice of $1200 to be paid. You can imagine my shock and horror, as I had already paid for the new clutch disc ($350). I've been stressed figuring out how to cover these costs. He will not return the car-keys until I pay in full and I cannot take legal action as no agreements were placed in writing before the work was done. I made the mistake of believing this 'family friend' would understand my current situation.
I rely on family and friends as well as public transport and walks to make all our plunket, doctor, winz appointments etc. I have taken out cash loans (which I'm still paying off) to cover ongoing bills and I have found myself selling clothes and toys just to make ends meet. A lot of this, my own family and friends do not know so it has been difficult making the decision to really ask for help. I was working and studying before my daughter was born so it has been a huge eye-opener to experience such trying times.
My little family have run into some financial hardship so please understand, even the smallest donation would be greatly appreciated. My goal has been to reach $1000.00 which will help immensely as well as getting the car out, up and running. You are truly helping me get back on my feet and back to enjoying life and focusing on what's most important - my baby girl. I can't thank you enough.
