.Our sweet Harley - Young Father of 3 - Needs Cancer treatment. Can you Help?

Canterbury

Harley Melhopt is 29 years old, a wonderful loving father of 3 young children and the life partner of Samantha, his beloved fiancee They have 3 beautiful children - Riley 8yrs, Naiah 3yrs, and baby Laken is only 9 months old.

Harley has already had a hard life; with no mother to raise him since he was 10 years old, he lost his father when he was just 14, and found himself virtually alone in the world. He was 16 years old and was diagnosed with epilepsy. Harley was a friend of my son so I took him in to my home to care for him until he was a young adult.

Harley had a pain in his stomach and went to the doctors they told him it was his appendix and went to operate on him but instead found a big tumor in his bowel, they proceeded to remove and found out it was a mutated family gene, he had bowel cancer and it had spread with the lymph nodes and now has spread to his neck pancreas and under his right arm, his stomach and bowel is causing him intense pain to the point where sleeping is difficult and limited, the pain seems endless to the point where Harley has constant hot showers to help, he is on morphine and sevredol and after the doctors today hopefully a higher dose will help. The doctors now advise that there is a treatment that should help him its called Cetuximab- but its $10,000 a month! He will likely need 2 treatments. Without the treatment he will die, Harley has just been to the doctors today 23/09/2016 and received the news there's a possibly he probably won't make Xmas.

Harley is a special young man; he is the most generous soul, giving to others when he can’t even afford it. He has taken in his friends when they have fallen on hard times, rescuing them, feeding them, and charging no rent. Now he is in trouble - and despite how proud and humble he is, we are reaching out to caring New Zealanders to please help to give a little to fund the treatment he so desperately needs.

Samantha is very worried - how will she cope if Harley dies and leaves her with their 3 young children; Harley is her rock, her lifetime love. Their life revolves around their 3 adorable children - the kids don’t really understand, they know Dad is sick, but think that the Doctors will make him well.

Harley can only get well if he gets the treatment he needs. I am giving all that I can - but the amount needed is well beyond my capability.

We hope that the compassion of ordinary New Zealanders will come to the rescue of this young family.

In the event Harley passes prior the funds raised will be put towards the funeral costs for his family.

Bless you for helping.

I'm involved because I look at Harley as if he was a son my own.

Setting goal to Open  16 November 2016

Harley and his family have been giving some upsetting news that his treatment (now needed for 4 months) prices at around an updated estimate of 38k. That aside, Harley is still determined to give this a go. We are needing to to continue to fundraise to a higher amount there for we have decided to set our goal to open. This post is also a chance to thank you all for the continued love and support for Harley and his family and for helping them get this far.
