Help towards getting my 24 year old brother, Hayden, home from Bali and towards his ongoing medical expenses.
Canterbury
On the 15th October we received a phone call from a Bali Hospital. Hayden was in Bali on holiday with some friends and they had hired some scooters for a quick look around on their first night. Unfortunately a car pulled out in front of the scooter Hayden and his friend were on as a result Hayden suffered life threatening injuries. He has a badly broken femur (thigh bone), fluid on the brain and open lacerations including possible nerve damage to his face, shoulder and arm. He has undergone three surgeries so far to repair his femur and face and to relieve the pressure on the brain. He has spent a week in ICU and has only recently been moved to a general ward. The good news is that he is now awake for longer periods of time and is able to have a short conversation. He is still confused and his memory is fuzzy. His right side is where the most damage has occurred and his right arm is very weak and will require rehabilitation. The recovery will be a long, hard process. We are still unsure as to when he will be released from hospital but we are wanting to have him back in New Zealand as soon as possible. Unfortunately Hayden is not covered by travel insurance so the sooner we can get him home the better. He is a strong man who is fighting hard and is determined to leave the hospital as soon as he gets a chance.
Any help towards getting him home and his ongoing medical expenses would be much appreciated.
