Alright where should I start.. Lets start with when we got back from Palmy

Things went real well, and looked good that was 1st Dec when we got home.. well she was recovering slowly and as expected a little fatigue but nothing major.. She started to slowly sleep more and had little to no energy which is what was expected two weeks after the Radiation Therapy... Her steriod dosage was down to the minimal 0.5mg

20th Dec - 9:30am Maree vomited up clear fluid and that was a WTF moment what the hell is that - So off to the HawkesBay ED, she had a CT Scan, numerous of attempts of getting blood and just an all rounding tiresome afternoon with Neuro tests and exams.

5pm - We were told that she will need to go to Wellington Hospital for an emergency surgery because there is fluid in the brain as the tumor has blocked the passage to allow the brain fluid to flow out, so will need to put in a Shunt in her head and run a tube inside her brain to her stomach to drain the excess fluid away. There was no time to grab anything off on the plane we went.

7:30pm - Arrived in Wellington with the clothes on our back and in total dismay of What the Hell.. Double dosage of Steriods to control the swelling of the brain.

21st Dec - Surgery went well and she felt so much better and was happy to eat again after being Nil Per Mouth from yesterday afternoon.. So all was well, just waiting on when will be allowed to go home to Hawkesbay.. Xmas is near and really want xmas with the family, But if we end up at the hospital so be it... either way we were happy she was our precious girl again.

22nd Dec - We flying back home to Hawkesbay Hospital to recover closer to the family for xmas.. Bye Bye Windy Wellington Here we Come Sunny HawkesBay and was good to see our family when we got home, Maree was recovering in hospital.

23rd Dec - They gave Maree the A-Okay to go home and spend xmas at home with us, got all the equipment she will need at home for showering and going to toilet a lot easier and we were happy as we get to spend xmas at home. Steriod dosage was gradually reducing it back to the 0.5mg as she was on recently.

So Xmas and New Years at home was a quiet and special time for our girl - Things were good as they could be until we noticed again her walking ability was not the same and sleeping more than usual...

    2017

Jan 2nd - Maree had a real hard time getting to the toilet and was more disorientated than normal...

10:30am off to the Doctors to be sent to the ED.. Once again more attempts of getting blood (She really has little deep veins) and Neuro tests along with a CT Scan...

3pm - Was told that there is swelling around the tumor and will need to administer 12mg Steriods per day to get the swelling down, also to be admitted into the wards for monitoring.

5pm - Maree settled up in the wards and ready for monitoring throughout the evening.

    TODAY 3rd Jan

9:15 - She had a real good morning - was alert - Looked like our bewtiful girl she always had been... She had visit with her two brothers and was communicating real well.

11am - Doc came in to explain what the next step will be..

When Maree was gradually going off the steriods it allowed the swelling to increase around the tumor - The Steriods help with the swelling but can not be on this high dose for a long period of time and this will bring the swelling back up. The tumor is also breaking up and finding other blood source to continue to grow and this will cause problems with her swallowing and breathing and eventually the tumor will burst and bleed into her brain (which the doc highly recommends this is what will happen) This stage will happen quite quickly and more than likely will not resuscitate, as it will not do her any good. So hearing this you have to ask - How long have we got - Weeks, Months but she will most likely not see the end of this year.

Maree will be discharged from hospital tomorrow after the meeting with all the necessary people and try and spend some quality time with the family.

So we thanked the doctor and cried in eachother's presence once he left.

Tonight she looked good and she had an awesome meal, showered and went to sleep peacefully like the bewtiful princess we know.

Yes tears stream down when thinking about my girl, I have a moment by myself, and the tears don't stop the hurt of losing My Only Daughter, but we will live every moment every day for the rest of her bewtiful life.

So that's the latest update We were happy to see the back of 2016 and I know that this year will be harder than any other that we have to face for the rest of our lives..

So this could be the update on the Give A Little Page my dear friend.. but that's our whirlwind moment.. I will keep you updated as much as I can okay :)

update: Follow up with Maree is she has done extremely well with her Radiation Treatment, The doctors & Nurses were confident that Maree has handled herself well with the Treatment, and can see the progress in her and are pleased with this results. The dosage of her steroids will continue to reduce and will be monitored in the next few weeks.. She will be due for a MRI & Scan possibly in the New Year to see the results of the Radiation Treatment.

oh so quick update.. is that we are heading into the third week of Radiation Treatments and Maree is doing real well, still have the odd bad day and sleep a whole day through.. But she can feel her left toes and this is real good because for months she could not feel her left side at all - It felt like pins and needles. But all is well so far.. Nearly half way there :)
