Mitchell was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
Canterbury
On October 17th 2016 my 15 year old son was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. He spends a majority of his days/nights in the Children's Haematology and Oncology Centre in Christchurch. He has undergone many surgery's and is undergoing many different chemotherapy's. Mitchell's treatment has a major impact on his immune system and infections arise very quickly and can be extremely serious which is why i have to be vigilant. A month ago he had a severe Anaphylaxis allergic reaction to a chemotherapy drug in which he almost lost his battle to Leukaemia. The stress to this alone is indescribable.
I am involved because im his mother and primary caregiver. So far Mitchell has received 398 beads for his procedures.
We want to raise funds for a car to transport mitchell to & from hospital for treatment, whether it be emergencies or clinic visits. At present we have been relying on hospital funding us with taxi vouchers to get us to & from hospital but these have slowly run out and we have no transport.Mitchell is unable to use Public transport due to his low immunity. It has been very stressful alone just coming to terms with his diagnosis but trying to find transport to his treatment is highly stressful
