We've all heard the news, and seen the devastating pictures following the earthquakes in Nepal but how many of you like me, are feeling so heartbroken and hopeless at the enormity of the situation that you don't know where to start to help.
Having just arrived back from Nepal, just a few short days before this disaster i am feeling very lucky and blessed to be alive but so incredibly sad and frustrated that I am not still there to help in person.
The truth is, these warm hearted, kind and generous people of Nepal needed our help before this earthquake and so desperately need it now as there lives have been challenged by mother nature.
The last 3 years I have travelled to this amazing country I have been so fortunate to spend quality time in the villages with the local people. In there homes, there schools, and there monasteries. Ive meet orphaned children whose hunger and sadness in there eyes still penetrates my mind to this day. But I've witnessed love and compassion by extended family and strangers that brings a tear to your eye. Theres a warmth and an energy in Nepal thats undescribable. The people of Nepal are some of the most kind hearted souls I've ever meet. Many living with the bare minimum but generating the biggest and warmest smiles.
In this time of need and for years to come, we may not be able to take away there pain and heartache, but we can make a difference. Even if it feels like we can't, we can!...We just need to start. And so Im starting this page by donating $100 and inviting you to join me & others in taking small steps to make a big difference in the lives of others
Funding will be used for:
- The funding will be used for rebuilding the homes of Chhepal Sherpa and his family, and others in the community around him in Kundee and Khumjung area. Also, to buy rice, clothing and new school supplies for Karta and Darham. (Darham & Karta. Orphaned children in Nepal cared for by there grandmother & Kami Temba. Along with the porters, sherpas and village people of the Kundee/Khumjung area cared for by Chhepal Sherpa).
Im a NZ Nurse that has volunteered in Nepal the past 3 years working closely with the local people living in the mountains of the Everest region.
Inspired by the love and generosity of others to help those in Nepal, I have started this fund-raising page to try and assist as able from a distance, to rebuild the lives and homes of those affected by this recent & devasting earthquake.
Namche - At the center of Nepals latest earthquake needs our help 13 May 2015
Another devasting earthquake has hit Nepal and this time centred in the heart of even further remote villages. There is no road access. In perfect conditions Namche is a 3 day hike and thats after an hours flight from Kathmandu. The only way for food & supplies to get in and out of many of these areas is by foot or donkey on the trails. The trails which are so badly damaged. Please help me fundraise and reach out to those high in the Himalayas and in such great need just now!
