Operation for Little Pepes Broken Jaw

$1,305 donated

Pepe & Dude are rescued Chihuahuas that were on Purina Pound Puppies. Little Pepe has broken his jaw, putting him to sleep was not an option

Auckland

Little Pepe somehow broke his jaw, we are not sure if it is because of his terrible life before us as he hasn't had any dental treatment in his 10 years. It may have contributed to it as we found out that he had quite a few rotten teeth which may have weakened his jaw. Pepe now has 10 teeth out of the 48 he should have.

One Saturday night he came running into the lounge, jumped up on to Dave's knee & sat there shaking. His eyes were huge, showing that he was in pain & trying to move his jaw back in to place. We rang the vet straight away.

He was operated on at VSG in Carrington Road & has 2 metal plates & wire holding his jaw together. He is tube fed with prescription food & is having x-rays to make sure that everything is healing properly.

We have used our wedding money to help pay for Pepe's operation & postponed our wedding for a year to 2017.

We adopted Pepe & Dude from Mark Vettes, they were on the latest series of Purina Pound Puppies. We love these little guys very much & are trying to give them the best life we can, they deserve to live the rest of their lives in comfort with decent food, room to run around, to be dogs with all the love that we can give & show them. We didn't hesitate to use our wedding money & postpone our wedding when Pepe broke his jaw as they are our family. Putting Pepe to sleep didn't even cross our minds, he is such a wonderful little dog with a zest for life. It was not an option.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause. Good luck Pepe. We have a chihuahua who also broke his jaw but unfortunately his previous owners did not get it fixed so he has a permanent disfigurement. You are lucky to have such kind owners.

So very sorry to hear about your Chihuahua. I couldn't stand Pepe in pain which is why we used our wedding money. Hope that your little one is fine now. I hate Pepe & Dudes previous owners for the way they treated our 2 boys & hope that I never find out who they were. I bet that you are the same. I wonder how your little man lived through the pain, so horrible! Thank you so much for your donation.
