I have been selected to ride for NZ in South Africa - What a dream come true!
Waikato
Heya, my name is Renee I am 17 years old and I have been selected to represent New Zealand in the Mounted Games Five Nations Championship held in South Africa in December. This is such an amazing opportunity for me to push myself to the best of my abilities, gain riding experience from this, and also a chance to make new friends from across the world. I have been riding for ten years, and training to become good enough to be selected to ride for NZ for three years. My hard work has paid off; however I now need to fund the costs which are around $6,500 for airfares, accommodation, pony hire, entry fees, etc. My mum does everything she can to support me and my dream but she does not make enough to be able to get me there by herself. Although I am doing my best to fundraise through sausage sizzles, selling chocolates, etc. I would like to ask for some help to get me to the competition to make my dream of riding for NZ come true. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading my story.
What is Mounted Games?
Mounted Games is a fast paced, action packed discipline with riders and mounts displaying an incredible amount of fitness, training and skill. Riders must be athletic and strong with wonderful horsemanship skills and great hand to eye coordination. Ponies are required to be nimble, fast, strong and brave but most of all must have a great brain! This exciting equestrian discipline can be enjoyed by everyone and spectators do not require specialist "horsey" knowledge - just a desire to be entertained!
