    Hi folks,

Just a further update on Ren's progress. She is back for the third lot of chemo tomorrow, not sure what dose they are giving her this time but it had to be cut back for the second treatment because of the side-effects.

Ren has been not been well after the last lot of chemo, with a lot more nausea and vomiting this time round. She spends much time sleeping, as she has little energy and has almost completely lost her appetite.

However, we continue to be positive as her pain levels seem well under control and "touch wood" there have been no infections or illnesses (colds, flu etc)

We are also back to the Radiology Department this Friday 2nd December 2016, I think to discuss a second round of radiation.

Last week Ren went to A Look Good Feel Good gathering at the Superclinic in Manukau where a lovely group of women set about doing their make up and teaching some make up tricks and tricks to tie scarves and head wear when hair loss occurs. All in all it was a lovely morning and Ren looked fantastic in red (see Gallery )

It is now 3 months and 16 days since Ren was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Adenocarcinoma.

So the day started at 7.30am 18th October with chemo beginning at 11.00am. Long, long day for Ren at Auckland Hospital with pre-meds of anti-histamines, anti-nausea and painkillers, a flush, 3.5 hours of paclitaxel, another flush, an hour of carboplatin, another flush and then the journey home began at about 5.20pm though peak hour traffic. 24 hours Ren is feeling reasonable but losing hair already :(

  • After effects

      17 October 2016

It's Monday October 17th, Ren has been unwell overnight, very unsettled tummy, feeling nauseous and has a headache behind the eyes and at the base of her skull.

Luckily we are seeing the Chemo specialists this morning, hopefully they can confirm it's just side-effects from the radiation. Chemo is scheduled to begin tomorrow, hope Ren feels well enough for this.

Firstly, a huge thank you to all you wonderful people who have donated to help my sister. I am so grateful and appreciative of everyone's help, as I know that to live in today's world is a huge struggle for most people and few have extra $ to spare. Your kindheartedness is just awesome.

Ren has just completed 5 days of intense radiation to the right hip, right 7th rib and full brain. She was extremely tired during this course of treatment which finished on Tuesday 11th October and is now at home resting before the next appointment with the Chemo specialist team in Auckland on Monday 17th October. Then it's back to Auckland on Tuesday 18th when she will have 5 hours of Paclitaxel infusion, followed by a 1 hour infusion of Carboplatin. We are expecting her to be knocked over by this treatment, but are keeping our fingers crossed that the side effects are not too horrific.

I will further update, once chemo has started.

Once again thank you all for your incredible support.

    Regards Frankie.
