Rick has been in hospital and has undergone extensive testing, to find out what his neurological illness is, but the specialists are unable to give him a confirmed diagnosis.
The best possible chance of getting an answer is to undergo a PET scan. This is a medical imaging technique which uses small amounts of radioactive tracers, to help diagnose, locate and assess a disease. It can be used to study specific regions such as the brain, or the whole body. The scanner is located in Wellington.
Rick, unfortunately does not meet the very strict criteria for funding set by the NMDHB therefore Rick and Jean will have to fund this privately.
Rick has been unable to work for quite some time and the cost of the scan is around $3000, plus travel and accommodation expenses we are looking to raise $4000 to assist in finding out what is making Rick so ill.
I am a friend who works with Jean, Rick's wife and just wanted to do something to be able to help them find out just what is going on.
