support for rodney and his whanau

Canterbury

On the 8th of July Rodney went into the hospital for what was supposed to be a reasonably straight forward bowel surgery, and is now in a induced coma due to a medical treatment injury.

We have started this page to allow Rodneys Whanau to be at his bedside without the stresses of covering daily finances.

Day 25!!! (3 Weeks, 4 Days)  10 August 2016

Today is DAY 25, since our dad was put into an induced coma! He is a strong man!! A fighter and has never given up on himself or his family!!!! He has continued to fight and gain progress throughout this whole journey! And on the 3rd August our prayers had been answered!!! His infection was under control and he was breathing brilliantly so that allowed them make the decision to start the process of lowering his sedation!!!!!! ( Day 18, 2 weeks/ 3 Days) throughout this each day his sedation would get lowered that little more (: Friday 5th August was the first day he seen us and knew we were there and knew who we were! That was the first day he came back to us!!!! Still with a breathing tube in his neck he wasn't able to talk to us but he had his sign language sorted!!! ?????? Monday 8th August he had his breathing tube removed! He was able to breath all on his own!!!! Lungs we're back to working awesome again! He was able to talk and his first words were I love you's!!!! Tuesday 9th August (yesterday) (Day 24!! 3 weeks, 3 days) He was moved to a WARD!!!!! Had his first wee meal! And juice! ?????? And now today 9th August! He has been able to stand on his feet! Standing turned into baby steps which then turned into walking!!!!! 8:15pm and he has taken 3 walks today!!!!! Eating all on his own.. Solids and fulid! Talking is perfect! Memory is fantastic! His breathing is perfect, infection is all on the mend! God has been watching over him and all of us! We have been truely blessed for today! And every day of this journey! Having him back with us and on the road to recovery is all we have wanted!!!! he is such a determined strong fighting man!!!!! And now all he wants is to get better and come home with us!!!!!! He will keep fighting till the day he gets let out ???????? Will still be a wee while till that day! But we have been blessed and have him back now and that's all we wanted!!!!!!! Thankyou to everyone who has stood beside us and supported him and us throughout this whole time! We are truely blessed in every way!!!!!! xxxxxx
