Help support Sharon to manage her rectal cancer symptoms with dignity.
Wellington
Sharon is 44 years old; a mother of four busy teenagers and until recently a busy community support / volunteer worker.
In June, Sharon began to feel very tired and had difficulties with rectal incontinence. A series of tests diagnosed Sharon with stage 3 rectal cancer.
Sharon is preparing to begin combined radiation treatment and chemotherapy, followed by surgery and further chemo at a later date.
Sharon lives in a 1930's home which she had planned to upgrade over time.
Sharon's bathroom and toilet facilities are in a dilapidated state. The original wooden toilet and bathroom floors are rotten and have collapsed in some places. Sharon's shower is rotten and leaks every time it is used. Despite regular cleaning, the bathroom attracts black mould, electrical wiring is unsafe and the electric lights no longer work. On many occasions Sharon has had to use a bucket in place of the toilet. Given her diagnosis, Sharon's bathroom conditions are far from ideal.
Please help Sharon to upgrade her bathroom and toilet to a state in which she is able to mange the effects of her cancer with dignity.
All funds will go towards trade expenses - building, electrical, drains and the purchase of modern toilet and shower facilities.
I am hopeful that in supporting Sharon's comfort and dignity in her personal care, we will help Sharon in managing her cancer journey and treatment in a meaningful way.
Sharon is my friend and former workmate. I have known Sharon since early 2006. I am supporting a friend who has given so much to others - for the first time in her life Sharon needs support from others. Please help if you can.
