Please help Steve help his family.

Hi New Zealand, my friend Steve Cardno is suffering from cancer called Malignant Mesothelioma caused by Asbestos. He's pretty unwell and is doing his best to put on a brave face for his wife Anna and their two children Finn and Tallulah.

I know this has put incredible burden on the family. I want to raise enough money to help them clear a few bills and pay for hyperbarac oxygen chamber treatments which will hugely improve his quality of life. With the treatments, we are hoping he may then be well enough to do a couple short bucket list trips within NZ, Castle Point at least, but ideally Queenstown.

There are only two public health places to get hyperbaric treatments in NZ and sadly he doesn't meet the requirements for treatment and therefore funding, and for privately it's of course not cheap at about $10k a series of treatments.

If we do raise the $40k, we are looking into what is required to import a Hyperbaric Chamber from the overseas and set it up for Steve to have a sleep in it at least once per day. It will help increase the amount of oxygen his body uptakes as his lungs have hugely decreased capacity and for this type of cancer these treatments have a positive effect and hopefully result in extending his life and the quality of time remaining with the family.

We are also looking into the set up of this service for others at of course a minimal fee (to cover costs to run) to help as many people as possible here in Wellington who cannot afford the treatments.
