After a tough year recovering from a brain haemorrhage we want to encourage & help our beautiful mother on her road to recovery.
Wellington
In December 2015, our mum Teresa suffered a sub arachnoid brain haemorrhage, this hospitalised her for 4 months, she immediately underwent brain surgery to coil the aneurysm and to relieve the fluid build-up, an intracranial drain was inserted, unfortunately moments later another bleed was formed from the drain and she was rushed back to theatre to have this removed, a partial craniotomy and removal of the clot, with a second drain inserted she started her hard road to recovery.
We are lucky enough to still have our beautiful mother here with us today, after many sleepless nights, different hospitals and rehabilitation visits we are now just over a year into recovery where mum has learnt to open her eyes and regain basic movements, with months on a feeding tube she had to learn to eat food again and build her strength as she had lost so much weight lying in a bed day on end, learning to speak and eventually walk without the aid of another person or walker.
For those who don’t know our mum she is a strong, independent and busy hustling woman, she worked previously as a ICU clinical nurse manager in the industry for 20 years she herself has seen other families in the position she is in now, she is the rock of our family & she has supported us entirely giving up so much for us to have good lives, it is our turn to now support and help her and give her everything we see possible, we are in the unfortunate position where our dad Kerry now has to get a hip replacement which will put both of our parents out of work and we want to ease the stress for them as best as possible.
These funds will be raised to help aid her recovery, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and everyday living as she now has had to resign from her job as she is no longer able to continue as a registered nurse, we have been lucky enough to receive support from her friends, colleagues and family, from ACC & her previous employment.
