Help bring Uto's family from Tonga to Christchurch so they can be with him while he fights his serious condition
Canterbury
Uto came to New Zealand 4 years ago to further his education at Akaroa Area school. Despite English being his second language Uto gained Level 1,2 and 3 NCEA. He also gained selection for the New Zealand Area schools rugby team, and was awarded Ellesmere Under 18 player of the year. Since leaving school Uto is half way through his building apprenticeship. Uto is an outstanding young man. A great role model for the younger students at school and hugely respected for his integrity by his peers, teachers and anyone who knows him.
He has recently been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and is in Christchurch hospital about to begin treatment.
We want to be able to help bring his family over to be with him-that's what this page is about.
I'm involved because I am a teacher at Uto's former school and have become a friend of the family.
Dispersal of donations 9 August 2016
Hi all,
a final note regarding your generosity as donors. If you have no objection the money donated will be used to pay for Uto's funeral, and for the airfares of Uto's Mother, Father and 4 siblings. The givealittle donations do not quite cover both areas, but some more donations were made directly to the Akaroa school-enough to cover the difference. Once again-thanks for the overwhelming acts of kindness.
