Please help our brother, father, husband, granddad complete his dream. Wayne has terminal cancer and this is his one and only last wish.
Wellington
Despite Wayne being the tough guy on the outside, deep down he has only one wish to fulfill before cancer takes him away – this is not something he would normally agree too, always likes to stand on his own two feet however when you are faced with death you realise that sometimes that support is needed, especially if it is to have your final dream come true.
Wayne has owned for many years a F350 tow truck and for many years it has sat inside the garage (driving his wife Denise insane) with the plan to be that when he had some spare funds he would get this pride and joy up and running. Sadly the spare funds never seemed to be spare, and now with time on his side, we as a family would like his dream to become reality.
Wayne was diagnosed with bowel cancer on his 50th birthday – YES!! Happy Birthday to me he was thinking!! He is a tough nut so we as a family thought if anyone will get through this he will…and well he did…sadly the liver was then targeted…but good news they couldn’t see any cancer when he had the surgery…yay, we say. The last 6-8 months Wayne has basically been house bound, as you can imagine bowel surgery is not always your best friend so the need to stay close to home was his only option. Health issues still ongoing – side effects from the chemo he was saying, tired, nausea, upset stomach, headaches, sore throat, coughs and cold…the list could go on.
3 weeks ago Wayne had the call….the cancer is in your lungs – bilateral meaning both lungs. There has also been significant growth since the last scan when we only knew the cancer as shadows/spots. The doctors had confirmed this is cancer and it is cancer that is aggressive. Wayne has now started a round of chemotherapy, one that is not being kind to his body at all but he knows he needs to continue in order to fight for more time to be with his family and to get behind the wheel of his truck for one last time. The treatment is only going to give him time, he knows he is only here for the short term but is hoping for the best as we all are.
Tow Truck driving was his career and passion for many years…you could never tell him to get another job as it was his everything. Hot Rods and Drag Racing, Car Magazines and greasy oil stained hands, this is Wayne Luff. Life hasn’t been easy but he would do whatever he could to help a mate or family member in need so we would to like to think that we can do this for him…We as a family are desperate to help him achieve this last wish.
we are his family desperate to help him achieve his last wish as he has always struggled through things on his own but always been there for everyone else, now its our turn to help him.
