Due to debilitating health I cant work outside the home or with other people so I have developed an on-line business so I can work from home

Canterbury

Hello, thanks for taking the time to read about my situation...

I cannot work outside the home or with other people, so I have developed an on-line business so I can work from home.

I have a debilitating, very life altering immune disorder which makes me allergic to most foods and nearly all types of chemicals (which are everywhere).

How I got to where I am today;

I started getting ill 25 years ago with severe chronic fatigue syndrome and debilitating vertigo, which would last for weeks on end. I was no longer able to work to support myself and my son and over the years my illness has progressed to the point where I am allergic to just about everything – most foods, chemicals found in buildings, clothing, footwear, makeup, shampoo, soap, fragranced laundry powder, cleaning products, newspapers, magazines, perfumes, the laundry powder fragrances emanating from other peoples clothing, body sprays and deodorants, dyes, glues, paint, new mattresses/curtains/carpets, many types of plastics and metals etc etc.

Socialising is nearly impossible for me because chemicals are everywhere and most people wear fragrances of some sort. Public travel is nearly impossible as is living with other people. I have only a couple of friends as people find it too hard to adapt so they can visit me or for me to be in their homes.

My autistic son was only 3 years of age when this hit me. So to say that my/our lives have been challenging is somewhat of an understatement.

I have not been able to work for a long time due to CFS and severe allergies and I struggle daily to have just the basics to live and to also financially support my now adult, autistic son. I live with my Mother and her Husband because I can’t afford my own home. This is an anxious situation as my immune disorder means they have to adapt their daily living habits too.

But, as difficult as life is for me, and though I get bouts of depression, I keep searching for answers and ways to improve my and my son’s lives. I so desperately want to be financially independent and be able to support my son too. So I started developing an online business service over a year ago.

I am now ready to launch but need money to market it and get brand recognition. Also I will eventually need a reliable website built as the cheap website software program I bought with some money loaned to me from my Mother is buggy and unreliable…but I have to make do with it until my on-line business has built a regular Membership base.

I feel passionate about my new business as the aim of it is to provide a fun, affordable, accessible social scene for people and communities everywhere. I want to do my bit to make society a better place for more people.

You never know what life’s going to throw at you and I’m trying hard to make lemonade out of the lemons given to me (Even though I can’t eat fruit or drink fruit juice!)

I would be ever so grateful for any donations to help me finish developing and to continue marketing my business. Once my business is financially viable, besides being able to support myself and my son, I will be in a position to help others too.

Sincerely,

Wendy

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
