When you think of Canada, what comes to mind... ICE HOCKEY!
Since I was younger, i've had dreams of making a career out of professional Ice Hockey, after i'm finished my schooling where I hope to gain a degree in Sports Science.
I am going to the FIRS Inline Hockey World Championships in August this year. I realised that going to Worlds could potentially be the start of something big, and a stepping-stone in my long and very difficult road to pro hockey.
There are sadly no options to play professionally in New Zealand as Ice Hockey here is fully amateur.
The purpose of my trip at the end of this year is to go to seek knowledge from the best coaches the world has to offer. I have always learned and picked things up very quickly, and in the 9 months I've been playing hockey as a goaltender, I have self-taught myself well enough to enable me to play for NZ against AUS in April this year, and now the next big accomplishment for me is representing New Zealand in China at Worlds in a few months time.
Any quality teaching I receive helps me immensely and shows in my game. A benefit of going to Canada to train is that I will be able to put whichever program I participate in, on my Hockey Resume.
I am hoping to raise as much money as I possibly can so that I can be one step closer to achieving my dream of playing professional Ice Hockey and traveling the world for it.
Any donations are greatly appreciated
The funds raised in my campaign will cover a wide variety of things including:
- cost of 7+ months of elite personal training leading up to the trip
- cost of flights
- cost of program registration
- Hockey Canada registration
- costs of billeting
- costs of equipment when and where it's needed
