PLEASE HELP CATHY BEAT MS

Recently my daughter in law, Cathy Marais, 39, was given the devastating news that she has MS. This came as such a huge shock to her and her family and she is still struggling to come to terms with it. Cathy is a Mum to two young children, Sienna 8 and Kane 5, she has no family support where her and my son live and depends so much on friends and strangers to help when she is struggling to cope with this debilitating disease. She suffers daily from extreme fatigue, burning sensations all over her body, night tremors when she tries to sleep plus other symptoms of MS.

There is no cure for MS however there is hope for Cathy in that of HSCT (Hematopoietic Stem Cell transplantation). This is a 6 week procedure whereby stem cells are harvested from the patient, the patient is then given doses of chemotherapy and the harvested stem cells are then replaced afterwards. Without this treatment Cathy may deteriorate and could possibly be in a wheelchair, lose her sight, her hearing, her memory and ability to talk and swallow.

Unfortunately this treatment is only available in certain countries overseas. Cathy desperately needs to have this treatment especially for her children’s sake and so that she can lead a relatively normal life again. She has applied and been accepted in Mexico (Puebla) in 2016 and wait listed for Russia (Moscow).

The treatment is expensive at a cost of approximately $70000 and we are trying to raise the money for her. Any donation, no matter how small, will be gratefully received and sincerely appreciated.
