Chennai, India, Flood Threat Continues After City Records Wettest November in Over 20 Years
Canterbury
Hi All,
Chennai Flood - Born in this mighty land.
Chennai is suffering its heaviest rains and floods of the last decade.
They have battered the city for more than a month now and the forecast today predicts a worse downpour over the next four days.
More than 10,000 residents have evacuated and homeless.
The rains have left the city submerged and airport flooded. Train and bus services have also been brought to a halt by the incessant rains.
For the month of November, Chennai has reported 1,024 mm (40.31 inches) of rain, more than 300 percent of the normal rainfall that is expected for the entire month.
December continued this wet pattern as more than 300 mm (12 inches) of rain fell in Chennai on the first day of the month.
A similar weather pattern in November 1997 resulted in more than 760 mm (30 inches) in Chennai .
Really apprciate if you can help for the people suffering in the flood.
Arun
