Tula Ram Chhetri had a fatal car crash which resulted in the demise of his wife Mon Maya and 7 months son Aaron. Please help the family.

Canterbury

Tula Ram Chhetri had a fatal car crash on South of Twizel on April 19, around 6.45 p.m. on their way back from Dunedin to Christchurch. The devastating crash has resulted in the demise of Tula Ram’s beloved wife Mon Maya Chhetri and their 7 months old son Aaron. Tula Ram had a serious injury and is still recovering at Christchurch hospital, while his daughter Jessica had a minor injury and has been discharged. He is left with his three daughters, Srijana (19), Bidhya (11) and Jessica (7).

Chhetri family were resettled in Christchurch from a Bhutanese refugee camp in Nepal in March 2008 and since had been an integral part of our Bhutanese Community here. Tula Ram and Mon Maya are widely known as a loving couple with an utmost desire to help others in the community.

With Mon Maya and Aaron no more, Tula Ram has got to look after their three daughters on his own with so horrid an accident in his mind. Looking at his condition and nature of the accident, it seems unlikely that Tula will be getting back to work anytime soon. Family is already going through the worst of hardship a human has to suffer, and seeing them struggle financially is the last thing we want.

Their daughter Shreejana is an aspiring health science student at the University of Otago, and Mon Maya had aways wished to see her be a doctor. Through this campaign, we would like to help Shreejana fulfil her mum's wishes and the family with the financial difficulties.

Lets all come together as a community to help Tula Ram Chhetri and his daughters in this time of great distress and sorrow. Your donations would make their life a little easier. The raised fund will go into the account of the eldest daughter Shreejana and will go towards benefitting the family.

Bhutanese Society of Christchurch, New Zealand Incorporated's involvement (page creator)

I am Akash Drukpa, Chairman of the Bhutanese Society of Christchurch. I am involved with organising our tiny community. After the tragic accident, I have been co-ordinating with family members and the community for the funeral of the deceased. I have personally known the family for a long time as we have been living close by not just in Christchurch, but in Nepal as well.

After a thorough meeting and consensus with the close members of the family and the community members, we have set up this give a little page to help Chhetri Family. The raised fund will go into the account of Tula Ram's eldest daughter Shreejana and will go towards benefitting the family.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
