In loving memory of Baby Charlotte

In the early hours of August 11th 2015 close to 5am baby Charlotte Barrell-Harding was born beautiful & perfect. Shortly thereafter her loving parents Stacey & Kris were delivered the devastating news that Charlotte was not going to survive, her umbilical cord had been compressed by a knot which had caused irreversible damage. Their beloved baby girl lived for 10 precious hours which she spent fully immersed in the love of her family. She slipped away peacefully while being cuddled & sung to by her Daddy just after 3pm the same day. Her loss has been totally, utterly heartbreaking for Stacey and Kris & all of us who know & love them.

Things have been far from easy for this loving couple. They are devoted parents to their blended family of 5 girls (baby Charlotte is number 6) and family is everything to them. Their happy healthy 2 year old Zoe's arrival was traumatic for completely different reasons. Zoe inhaled meconium during her delivery and stopped breathing. She was immediately medevaced from Palmerston North to Wellington Hospital's Neonatal ICU where she spent a week recovering. That was a harrowing time for them not knowing what the outcome would be and whether or not Zoe would have permanent brain damage.

Charlotte's birth was meant to be the experience they didn't get last time, the one that would right all the wrongs, the one that would have the outcome of a perfectly healthy newborn baby girl.....

This page has been created not only to assist with Charlotte's funeral costs but also because these guys really need a break, they need some good luck in their lives, they say good things happen to good people so let me tell you about the kind of good person Kris is, he's a regular kiwi bloke with a big heart & he has gone above and beyond to help other in his community in the past. In late 2013 he received a phone call from a retired couple wanting a quote to have their whole house re-lined and plastered. The couple had just learnt the home they had recently purchased with their life savings was formerly a meth lab. Kris rallied around local businesses and donated his time & skills free of charge to make this couples house a livable home again. That's the kind of person Kris is and his family is immensely proud of him for it. To make matters worse Kris has recently ruptured a disc in his back! This is an incredibly painful condition that has left Kris unable to work. He's had the added stress of battling to get ACC assistance so he is able to continue to support his family, the added worry of funeral costs is something a grieving Dad shouldn't have to be concern himself with at a time like this. It is my hope that in creating this page, and having people get behind it Stacey & Kris will have some of the financial burdens associated with the most difficult time in their lives lifted from their shoulders.
