Help Dad Get Through This

In January 2017, my dad was diagnosed with Esophageal cancer and has not started the lengthy process of Chemo and then will require major surgery to remove the tumor which is then followed by 9 more weeks of Chemo.

Dad has been through so much over the past 8yrs and this is just so unfair that now he is having to deal with this also. Approx 8yrs ago Dad had a routine operation which ended in Medical Misadventure which left him with a Cathata for the rest of his life. Numerous surgeries were undertaken to try and repair this but with no luck, dad had to take extensive time off work for recovery over this period which left him with no sick leave or annual leave. Which at the time wasn't too bad but unbeknown to us he would then develop a tumor which now requires him to be on Chemo everyday, as the days progress into weeks and then weeks into months, dad is trying to stay strong and still go to work as he has no leave available to him, unfortunately for Dad this is now becoming impossible to be at work. As there is still a mortgage even being small, he still has to work at least two days per week to cover these costs. I want to help in some way to get this mortgage gone once and for all, let Dad deal with his illness without the stress of having to also go to work. He could retire and get well again and enjoy the rest of his life.

18mths ago Dad also did a full stem cell transplant for his beautiful sister as she was fighting lymphoma cancer. Dad was the only match and even after all his surgeries and feeling like he did, he went ahead with this. It was a success and I remember talking to dad and hearing the delight in dads voice knowing he had helped her was so overwhelming. Sadly in September last year my Aunty became unwell with infection and she lost her battle, 4mths later Dad was diagnosed with cancer and his battle began.

Dad would do anything for anyone, for all that know him would have at some stage or another came across the kindness he brings.

With your help I want to take away Dad and Lena's worries for the next few months, Dad can then continue his battle, rest when he needs to and not have the worry.
