Hisham Almansi (20) is in a coma after being crushed by a hydraulic door at his workplace. Please help him and his family at this time.
Canterbury
Hisham Almansi (20) was working at in an Ashburton abattoir on June 3 when he was crushed by a hydraulic door.
His father Suliman Almansi said his son remained stuck for about five minutes. Hisham is currently in a coma with a broken back, two broken femurs, two broken ribs with further damage to his lungs, liver and stomach. He has already had several operations, with one leg still to be operated on.
Hisham has a brother and three sisters. His father said of him that "he likes all people. He has different friends from different countries and different cultures. He also likes playing football and games."
Hisham Almansi, who is originally from Jordan, moved to New Zealand in 2010 and graduated from Otago Boys' High School in 2013. The rest of his family moved over last year.
The plan was for the family to leave New Zealand on July 28 and return home so Hisham Almansi could begin studying to become a doctor.
Suliman Almansi said it was unlikely those plans would go ahead.

The purpose and goal of this fundraising is to provide support to Hisham and his family to offset travel, medical and pharmaceutical bills, and help ease the financial burdens from time off work for the entire family. The family have also had to relocate temporarily to Christchurch to be with Hisham while continuing to pay rent in Ashburton.
Hisham's father Suliman has been humbled by the kindness of the community in response to this tragic accident. He and the family appreciate all the thoughts and prayers for Hisham. He is not seeking your donation but if you would like to make one then he will ensure that it is directed to Hisham's account to aid in his recovery.
Thanks to Spark Foundation's fee free fundraising platform 100% of your donation will go to Hisham and his family.
I do not know the family personally. Hearing of this story affected me deeply and I would like to help Hisham and his family through this testing time in some small way by encouraging all of us to "give a little" to ease some of the pain. I'm sure that Hisham and his family would appreciate anything you can offer them - be it in a small donation or by remembering them in your thoughts and/or prayers.
