Raising as much as possible to help relieve the pressure on Hope while she learns her new normal of living medically dependent.
Auckland
On April 3rd Hope was called by her doctors after blood test results showed inflammation markers were 235 (meant to be under 5) and was told to go straight to the emergency room. She was immediately admitted to North Shore hospital for more tests.
After 4 days in hospital undergoing numerous tests and trying to get the inflammation in her body under control she woke up feeling extremely unwell and was rushed to surgery for Toxic Megacolon. Her Colon had ruptured and she had developed sepsis.
Post-Surgery: Hope spent 10 days in high dependency unit, has undergone 4 blood transfusions, PICC line and is dealing with 2 surgical infections resulting in internal bleeding.
What began as a sore tummy in March has kept Hope in hospital for 21 days now with no clear indication as to when she may begin to recover or start to learn her new normal whilst caring for her 10 month old Son, Kian.
She has remained so brave during this time despite her life being turned upside in a matter of days and being away from her baby for all this time.
Hope will require at least 2 further surgeries over the next 12 months and needs home care on days family can't be there to help and childcare for Kian while she starts her recovery journey.
The funds raised will cover the shortfall in these costs for her young family.
