Helping our homeless and those in need

$6,510 of $5,000 goal
Given by 67 generous donors in 6 weeks

Instead of gifts for her 50th birthday, Jackie Galland who runs Giving Aroha in Anzac Park has requested donations to assist our homeless.

Nelson / Tasman

Jackie Galland is the beautiful soul who gives all her free time to helping people in need. She runs an entirely community funded group called Giving Aroha in Anzac Park. This group provides meals and essentials for our homeless people and those in need and has been running for over 2 years.

Every day you will find Jackie out delivering food and meals, warm clothing, sleeping gear and more. There are hundreds of people slipping through the cracks and without Jackie's organisation and help things would be even more dire.

With Jackie's 50th birthday nearing, in true Jackie style she has asked for nothing for herself - her birthday wish is for donations to provide food and necessities for those who need it. Even $5 would buy cans of food, bread, etc. Every single dollar counts.

Giving Aroha in Anzac Park receives no public funding and is entirely run on a shoestring by Jackie and her volunteers. With your help we can take the worry out of where the next meal will come from.

As a volunteer myself, I've witnessed the hardship and poverty, combined with the sincere gratitude and love of those who receive help. Let's rally together and be the change we wish to see, encompassing all our community and showing we are one.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
