Daniel Marks - running 43km through the Wellington Hills (WUU2K) so thought I would fundraise at the same time for St Benedict's School.
Wellington
On the 17th of July Daniel Marks will be hitting the hills of Wellington to run the WUU2K (https://www.wuu2k.co.nz/). It is a a trail-running endurance event, 43km of running and roughly 2k of climbing. "I want to take this opportunity to help support the great work that the St Benedict's School Helping Our Kids (HoK) Committee do."
HoK are currently fundraising for the construction of a new Year 3-8 adventure playground. The goal being to create a stimulating playground for the older students, made from sustainable products, which the students can utilise and enjoy being challenged on for many years to come.
If COVID restrictions exist where Daniel can't run the event on the 17th, he will ensure he completes the run as soon as he can (Strava extract for proof :))
The St Benedict's School Help Our Kids (HoK) strategically organise several family-friendly fundraising activities for the school each year through a team of dedicated and positive parents.
All money goes to St Benedict's Helping Our Kids committee - which will be used to construct a new Year 3-8 adventure playground . The goal being to create a stimulating playground for the older students (made from sustainable products)
Challenge completed - body broken 25 July 2021
Well I can tick off the bucket list a marathon on hills! Wellington put on a cracker of a day yesterday for me to attempt the 43km challenge. If you had asked me before I got my injury I would have said I was attempting a 5 hour time but ultimately yesterday it was a mental challenge to run/walk through the pain and make sure I completed it..
I had a great support crew - with Andres (first 12km), my old man (30km biking next to me) and Jason Naylor (the final 10km) all helping me get the run done. My right leg gave way at the 30km mark so a lot of "perseverance" and great chat from Jase was needed to get me across the line.
I was out there for 6 hours and 43 minutes (moving time of 6hr 15min sounds better) but I got it done!!
Thank you all for the generous donations!! It is all going to a great cause.
