Our friendly little fur baby is desperately in need of a CT scan, and will likely need surgery and other significant medical costs
Palmerston North, Manawatu-Wanganui
We are trying to fund a CT scan and likely future surgery to save our fur baby's life. 🐶
This is indie, aka indigo. She's a four year old shizu cross Maltese. She's a gorgeous friendly very smart little dog who's everyone's friend big or small. For us, she's a substitute for having a child. She sleeps in our bed and is always happy when we come home 🏡. She's always been full of happy playful energy and excited to be everyone's friend while also being a very gentle, empathetic and well behaved pup.
A few months ago she got an infected abscess and she had surgery to remove it, which has since healed however, she struggled to recover and hasn't came right. She has been lethargic, exhausted, sore, sad and has stopped caring about everything even playing and her red bear (favorite toy).
She's totally different to the friendly energetic she was before the abscess, miserable, sleeping all day, and clearly very sore. The vets are very concerned.
Her recent vet visit blood test eliminated most potential causes, but showed her red blood count and iron levels are extremely low (not a good sign).
At this stage she either has internal bleeding from a foreign object still inside her body or a serious bone marrow condition.
We have spent over $5,000 on vet visits and medication. We wouldn't usually ask for anything, but we are burning through our savings doing everything we can for her. Any money we don't spend on the CT Scan, vet bills or dog related costs we plan to donate to the SPCA.
The money will cover vet bills including a CT scan $3,000, and surgery $2000, any other money will cover additional vet bills for her recovery. If any money is left over we plan to donate it to the SPCA or on here to dogs in need.
