Helping Pregnant mummy dogs and puppies

Here at Country Retreat Animal Sanctuary we rescue many different animals.

However, our main rescue area is with pregnant dogs and pups.

In just over 2 years we have rescued and re-homed more than 300 puppies. Helped numerous mummy dogs and found them wonderful homes.

The dogs and pups come from all over the North Island to our Sanctuary were we get them back into good health. They are treated for fleas, worms and any other issues they may have. They are vaccinated, microchipped and also de-sexed.

Our point of difference is that we do everything here at the Sanctuary, we have purpose built building for these pups and mummy dogs. They have 24/7 care with us. We also have volunteers who come and help us clean, feed, cuddle and socialise the pups and dogs. We often have 30 plus pups at one time.

We are looking at making our life easier by putting a water tank and electric into our building, to save us carrying water buckets, washing etc every day. We will also be putting on extra building to help more pups as unfortunately it is a never ending battle saving these pups and dogs.
